ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS
1. 30% |
Perform general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department for the purpose of tracking AcenTek’s financial activities in accordance with general accepted accounting principles and FCC part 32. Tasks may include but not limited to manage accounting intercompany transactions for AcenTek’s three different companies; reviewing and entering invoices, verifying payment and invoices associated with accounts payable and ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accounts, maintaining general ledger and reconciling general ledger related accounts, executing monthly closing of general ledger, facilitating work order set up and closing work orders upon completion; updating Continuing Property Records (CPR’s), preparing monthly financial statements and miscellaneous financial reports; facilitating and verifying payment of vendors, as appropriate, and collaborating with software vendor to maintain accounting software system, recommending updates to enhance software. Monitored by the Controller through random verification, reporting and financial statements.

Verify and post activity related to inventory for the purpose of ensuring accurate financial records are maintained. Tasks may include but not limited to preparing/reviewing inventory reports, verifying inventory and purchases charged to work order, assisting with inventory item set up, processing inventory/GL differences report for accuracy, researching errors and make corrections, updating and recording inventory items, and running sales price listings to communicate with various departments. Monitored by the Controller through financial reports and inventory usage.

Analyze accounting activities for the purpose of ensuring accurate financial information and reporting. Tasks may include but are not limited to analyzing and resolving complex problems; reviewing, investigating, and correcting errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, act as resource for other departments, maintain confidentiality, and monitoring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and FCC part 32 regulatory requirements, and AcenTek policies and procedures; and attending department staff meetings. Monitored by the Controller via observation, discussion, and review of reports.

Prepare and submits reports to external and government agencies to ensure compliance with applicable reporting requirements, proper record-keeping, and the establishment of internal controls. Tasks may include but not limited to preparing federal, state, and local reports, preparing tax returns for sales and use tax; preparing and submitting various regulatory data/reports, and preparing and filing various required state annual reports. Monitored by the Controller through reporting.

Assist external auditors and cost study consultants in reviewing processes and financial records for the purpose of ensuring financial reporting complies. Tasks may include but not limited to preparing audit schedule, generating requested reports, auditing contracts, and vouchers and preparing reports to substantiate individual transactions, providing supporting documentation, and contributing personal knowledge and analysis. Monitored by the Controller via communication from auditors and cost study consultants.

(Continually looks for new and improved ways of completing the above functions. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor will be performed in order to address unexpected situations or needs that may arise.)
RESPONSIBILITIES: This position includes full responsibility and accountability to the Controller to comply with all professional accounting practices. Position is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality of information. Required to maintain financial records in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. Requires effective communication with employees and outside vendors, problem solving individually and with a team. Position obtains information from others within and outside of AcenTek. Position has internal contact at all organizational levels. Requires negotiation, persuasion, and diplomacy with all departments and vendors. |
LATITUDE: Most duties are defined and consistent from day to day. Problem solving is accomplished by performer independently most of the time. Decisions are consistently reviewed by others. All purchase requests are referred to supervisor. |
IMPACT OF POSITION: Successful completion of essential job tasks supports the purpose and vision of the Accounting Department within AcenTek. Errors usually impact a single department or phase of organization. Errors may have significant adverse effect on external relationships. Duties involve the preparation of data of which management bases important decisions. |
CUSTOMER SERVICE/INTERACTION: Daily phone, email, and personal contact with employees.Weekly phone and email vendor contact. |
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS: |

EDUCATION: Required: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience. |

EXPERIENCE: One-year previous telecom experience, preferred. |
