In early October, AcenTek offices in Minnesota and Michigan gave back to their community. Employees who work in each office make a bi-annual donation in exchange for dressing casually at work. Those donations, along with the match provided by the company’s Board of Directors, are then donated to
non-profit organizations within the serving area.
This fall our donation theme was Dress Casual, Help Save Lives. Each office chose to give to organizations that were very instrumental in saving lives. ) In Minnesota, five area emergency medical service departments received donations from the Casual Day Committee. Caledonia Ambulance, Rushford Ambulance, Brownsville Fire and Rescue, Houston Ambulance and the Ostrander First Responders were each given a $600 donation from AcenTek. Not all departments were available to meet, but AcenTek did stop by to visit with many of them, present the donation and share our gratitude with them in person. When asked what the donation may be used for, the suggestions included lighting for helmets, training equipment, such as mannequins and ongoing equipment needs.
In Michigan, our Allendale office decided to give donations to three fire departments in our southern serving area. The Allendale Fire and Rescue, the Coopersville Polkton Fire Department (add a comma here) and the Zeeland Township Fire Department each received $600 donations from the Casual Day Committee. Staff dropped by to hand-deliver donations and extend our personal thanks to these brave fire fighters.
The AcenTek office in Mesick, Michigan, chose to give back to an incredible organization called 22-2-None located in South Boardman. This organization’s purpose is to bring veterans back together after their time in service. This effort is to help with the mental health and well-being of those who served. Their name references 22 veterans a day commit suicide, which was the statistic in 2016 when they started this organization. They hold events like hikes and cookouts while raising awareness of those veterans fighting the fight within. Our donation of $600 will go towards the Outdoor Venture Program (OVP). This is a program that provides time for veterans to enjoy the rivers, lakes and trails of Northern Michigan throughout the year. Our donation will help provide equipment, food and transportation for the OVP.
Our communities would not be as strong as they are without important organizations like those listed. They are the ones who can help in our darkest hour and AcenTek applauds their efforts. We hope to inspire others to support these worthy causes in whatever way they can.
