This spring, AcenTek will have a board member retire. Representative for Houston County, Gene Henderson, will retire in April after 34 years of serving on our Board of Directors.
Director Henderson’s background is in financial services, where he worked for more than 20 years. In addition to knowing the ins and outs of the financial world, Gene farmed. He attended Syracuse University and served as a Russian linguist in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. In addition to his impressive work history, Gene has been a member of the Lions Club in Houston for over 30 years. He also served on the Valley View Nursing Home Foundation Board and served as president of the church council and taught Sunday School at his church, the Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston. Gene and his wife, Anita, have three children.
When asked about serving on the board, Gene commented, “I take this position on the board very seriously so that Ace Telephone Association can be the best that it can be.”
That attitude is so appreciated about Director Henderson. His strong sense of community and dedication to the area contributed greatly to discussions and decisions made by the board. His hometown roots and pragmatic perspective have been greatly valued over the years. We are so grateful to have had him serve. We extend our thanks to Director Henderson and wish him all the best as he retires.
